Diversity

I learn a lot from different cultures. Each culture is so unique. They have different yet similar values, hobbies, foods, sayings, languages, traditions. I love to gain a different perspective from someone who is from a different country. Or, when you talk to someone foreign yet you can agree and can relate. When there is no diversity, there is less to learn, less foods to try, no new words to learn. You get the picture. My favorite part about being in Orlando is the range of people you can meet. My co-workers are from all over the world, the guests fly from everywhere. I enjoy talking to co-workers during work and learning about them. We laugh, we create a common ground, and we talk about our cultures. If everyone was the same, life would be extremely boring. I am so grateful for diversity!

Learning to appreciate what I already have

I am starting to realize the importance of having Sunday as a day of rest. Everyday I am going at a constant speed. I never have time for myself to just relax and think about what really matters. I woke up this morning and realized that it was church. I stayed up at work last night. I was utterly exhausted in the morning and debated whether or not to go to church. Such a silly question! Of course I knew the answer was church, the fact I was debating going to church surprised me though. I am working tonight but I am going to start requesting Sunday's off every week. I need to take the Sacrament and just to be in that environment where I can feel peace. I know I make the right decision when I go to church even if I am loosing sleep because I am getting up early to go on a bus. You see a change in your spirit when you don't go to church and take the sacrament. Last Sunday, I didn't go to church and I felt weird. Something was missing in my day. I haven't felt that befo

The Bakery and Ice Cream Parlor

I just wanted to update my blog and talk about my work! You have already seen my costume, I like my costume a lot! The theme of main street in DisneyWorld is 1920, my mom told me I am a "gibson girl". Do you realize how many people buy sandwiches and pastries at the bakery? A LOT! It is a good thing because I like to be busy. I hate standing around waiting for something to do.I have worked 8 hours a day for now 5 days in a row. My hours are in the afternoon/late night.  That is what you get when you are working in the college program! But even though I have hours when everyone else is socializing, I like working on main street. You get to watch the parades through the window. The food at the bakery is delicious. I don't like vegetarian foods, but they have a tomato and cheese with pesto sandwich. It was amazing surprisingly. My co workers are fun to be around, when we are closing we joke around with each other. What has been my favorite thing to eat the bakery? I would h

What should I do?

I had this question this morning. I was in a situation where I didn't feel comfortable, and it made me think "what should I do?" I know this sounds dumb, but it was situation I have never been in my life. One of those you hear and think, "that will never happen to me". It did. I was wrong. So, how do you make a decision of what to do when you are uncertain? These are my rules of thumb. 1. Do you feel comfortable? Imagine yourself in the situation and if you feel good about it, and feel like it is right then follow your gut feeling.  2. Think what is your motive in making my decision. Think of what you want out of the situation and then find the solution that matches what you want the most.  3. And think of the consequences in the future, what will my decision lead to in the future? Sometimes what we want momentarily comes first rather than the longer consequences. The consequences that matter the most are the "eternal" or ones that will affect your

I can tell that...

my life will be extremely busy from this point on! My last week has been so much fun but we are always going! I have gone to the disney parks a lot, and we are always hopping on buses and waiting and walking around. I love being here though. I don't know if I can post my costume up, but I am now transferred to Main Street North. I work in Main Street Bakery and Ice Cream Parlor! It is cute and I will be able to watch the fireworks every night. My schedule will be busy, but that is good. I have become more friendly here. My goal is to make a new friend everyday on the bus. I have been reaching that goal every day so far! I try to take to the international students because everyone is from different places. They always say something to brighten your day or just give you a different perspective. They make you laugh too. I always like meeting people up in the park and meeting their friends. Your friend circle is constantly growing when you are open minded and invite people to join yo

DisneyWorld

I have been here for a couple of days here and my verdict: it is amazing. I love it. Best decision of my life to come here. Really what was I thinking when I could of stayed in Elk Grove or work in the happiest place in the Earth in Florida? Easy decision! The weather has been a little chillier but It has been really nice. Me and my roommate like to run in the morning on this pathway we found. We have the perfect pace for each other, so I can run four miles without stopping. My apartment is nice, I wish we had wi-fi internet and a tv. The bus system can be confusing, but I am slowly getting used to it. Last night I had a freak out moment, I was alone trying to figure out how to get to my apartment. It was a good experience to get lost and figure out something by myself. Scary. I love how diverse the workers are in DisneyWorld. Everyone is from different places so on the bus you can meet a large variety of people. I love meeting Brazilans! They are always so friendly, and I love tal

I am imitating you. I hope you don't mind. I went shopping and found a great deal. I love Target, they have the cutest clothes, and you can get lucky with a great buy. This was my great buy; a blazer. You want to see my creative outfits I made? It makes me want to work in a professional environment! I had so much fun planning outfits I could wear my jacket with. Oh what joy will come when I can wear those clothes all the time!

"Be a Good Girl"

I had a random flashback today that made me smile. We had a question and answer session with President Clark at BYU Idaho one night for our Family Home Evening. I wasn't going to ask a question, but I did and his response was so funny yet it was very personal. I loved how he responded because it was very personal to me, and I could tell that he cared for me even though he maybe met me  that one night.  He looked at me, and said he could tell I was sweet and wanted to make the right decision. He then said he knew I could make the right decision, because he could tell that I knew what was right and wrong, and I knew what it felt like to feel the Holy Ghost in my life. My favorite part of his response was "Be a good girl". He said I know just by looking at you that you are, but continue to "be a good girl'. That is my motto for this next year! It is so simple. But when you are making the right choices, then everything else just seems to flow. Be wise in your dec

New Years Resolutions

I made my list of New Years Resolutions today. I often make them and never reach them. Why? Because there are strategies to making New Years Resolutions. These are my tips for you: - Be Specific. If you want to lose weight, say you want to lose 30 pounds, and set a specific plan. The more specific it will be, the easier it will be to follow. - Make them Attainable. If you want to earn a 3.9 GPA, but you have been earning a 3.4, set a smaller goal. I am not saying that you can't get a 3.9 GPA, but it may not be attainable. Set smaller goals that you can reach that lead up to a bigger goal. For example, one worthy goal would be to reach a 3.6 or 3.7 GPA, and then to reach a 3.9,. -Don't Write too many goals. This is my problem. I want to do a lot, so I write a long list. Make a reasonable amount, and focus on one goal at a time. Once you reach one goal, then you can move on to another. -Make a reward system. If you trying to lose weight, try not to make it junk food! Find
