I was asked if I was a freshman.

I went to Macey's (grocery store) with my brother and his friend asked me If was starting as a freshman this year. I responded to her saying "I am actually a Senior!". It wasn't a big deal. Its crazy that this is my last year of my undergraduate. In a way being in college is safe because your responsabilities are cut. You read, study, write, present, and take exams. This is your life. You get so used to your usual schedule that graduating will present so many options that I am unsure of it. Some days I am so excited to be a senior, and some days I am frustrated. This is a post about being a freshman in college though.

What I wish I'd known as a Freshman in College:
1. Make a focus of being friendly and outgoing. Make lots of new friends and be crazy. This summer I had a few looks from people when I was doing strange things. As a freshman, it is expected that you will be crazy.
2. Live it up! On the weekends, stay up late because it is fun and go to dance parties. It gets boring later on during college, but as a freshman is so exciting.
3. Watch movies late with your roommates and eat cookie dough late.  (on the weekends)
4. Flirt it up with guys in your general classes. When you get deep in your major like mine, there will be no guys to flirt with. So flirt when you have the chance.
5. Be responsible because your grades DO matter, but have fun as well.
6. Don't eat too much cookie dough.
7. Don't be ashamed to be a freshman. Own it.
8. If you don't know your major, start deciding on what you want your major to be. Ideally, sophomore year is when you should have it declared.
9. Have fun with your roommates.
10. Look for opportunities to serve and do amazing things like travel.

So, I had fun in my freshman year. I had struggles with some roommates, but who dosen't? Some people you aren't going to be best friends with. You just have to deal with it. You can't make everyone love you. Looking back though, I had a good time. So, no I am not a freshman. I am kinda jealous of the freshman because they have 4 years to make the best out of their undergraduate. They have less responsibility. Yet, I love being a senior as well. Happy school year everyone!

Learning to Let Go

Yes, that is my lesson that I have been learning the last couple of months. Update on my life: I postponed my mission. I feel really good about my decision. I was planning on leaving to the MTC on July 31st. The best way to explain my decision is that life changes and curve balls are thrown at you. It was a very confusing time of my life as I was deciding whether or not to postpone my mission, but I made sure that I was making the right decision. I want to go back to school and continue my "career" or pathway to a career. I want to be a social worker and feel like I can serve God with my career. So, I am staying home. I have a testimony of the church and I respect all the missionaires serving right now. If I was 19, I would have a different outlook as a missionary. At this time, I feel like I should be spending my time in other areas of my life. And it is important to realize that sisters are not commanded to serve a full time mission. Recent Changes

So, I haven't written in here for a long time. I thought I might write about recent events in my life. My winter break was fantastic and really long. I am not used to having a month long break so I didn't know what to do with myself. The first part of my break, right after finals, I spent way too much time watching Netflix. I would just lay there in my pajamas and enjoy doing nothing. When you are really busy, it is nice to do nothing at some point. After getting bored of doing nothing, my brother came home for Christmas time. We had lots of family time just talking, playing games and catching up. I experienced one of the most beautiful days in San Francisco. We went hiking in Marine County and looked over all the bay. It was absolutely stunning and brought a lot of new perspective.
