A Respected Old Maid
He asked me for a date.
I seriously objected!
I knew the feeling was great,
But I might not be respected!
He asked to hold my hand,
I seriously objected!
I knew the feeling was grand,
but I might not be respected!
He asked me for a kiss, A KISS!
I seriously objected!
I knew the feeling was bliss,
but I might not be respected!
And now I’m old and gray,
by men I am rejected.
They call me an old maid,
but HECK! I am respected!
I seriously objected!

I seriously objected!

This is what I will be; a respected old maid. I have a feeling that I will be 50 talking about the men I rejected and smile because I was respected. Which one is better to date someone and not be respected or to be single and be respected? We all know that respect is extremely important in a relationship, but sometimes we drop the value of it purely to be loved. It feels good to be loved and appreciated by someone you are attracted to, yet it can feel empty when it is without respect. Each person values different things. I personally would rather be single than dating someone who didn't respect me. False love and attention hurts more than being alone. It is a personal decision of what you want more. Love or respect? I will wait until I find both in one person!
