Climbing Mount Timp

So, this summer me and my best friend have been outside a lot hiking and camping. We both have loved it because it is a great stress releaser and we get to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Like yesterday, we climbed Mount Timp. It is a 13 mile round trip hike. The hike was moderately easy until you get to the saddle of the mountain. I was surprised that mount timp isn't a very pretty mountain, but the hike was beautiful. There were wildflowers everywhere. We woke up at 4 in the morning to get there early and avoid the heat. The cool thing about waking up early was being able to the see the sunrise. The hike is in American Fork Canyon so, you see some of the mountains in the canyon in this picture. It started raining while we were hiking, but it was a drizzle, but it felt so good. I kinda like hiking in the rain.
We kept hiking in the rain, and we reached a nice surprise, Scout Falls. It provided a good view of the sunrise in the canyon and it was a pretty waterfall. We kept going on the hike and we loved talking to people. One thing I recommend about going early in the morning is that smaller groups go in the morning. In my opinion, the smaller groups are much friendlier. It was fun to have small talk with all of the small groups. Also, we saw the backpackers coming back from camp. It is common for people to backpack and climb mount timp for the sunrise. I think we are planning on doing that next year! We hiked to the top with perfect timing. We were afraid that we wouldn't be able to get to the top because it was a little stormy, but once we got the saddle, it was blue sky!
It was absolutely beautiful because you could see over Provo, Pleasant Grove, American Fork Canyon, Utah Lake, and just all the surrounding areas. Mount Timp is the second highest peak in Utah. We started seeing clouds coming, so we hurried off Mount Timp before hailing occurred. Another cool moment on the top was signing the book to show that you have made it to the top along with the thousands of others who climb it.

We made it perfect timing! I think for me the coolest moment of the day was when we could see the clouds passing through the mountains. It was a moment I can't explain because it was unexpected and beautiful. For 10 minutes, you could see clouds pass through the mountain range and it was such a contrast to the blue skies we had at the top of the mountain.
It started raining once again, but eventually it warmed up and started becoming hot. We took lots of pictures with the wildflowers and beautiful scenery. One thing we didn't see was the goats. Supposedly, there are lots of goats along the trial.
A funny story, if you need to go to the bathroom on this trail, you are in luck. There is a sign right before a fork in the road that says "Toilet". It dosen't say bathroom, but "toilet". It is literally a toilet out in the open. It was the dirtiest toilet I have ever seen in my life because it is full of trash, but yet it is a toilet as you can see in the picture.
So, we made it to the top and loved it. We felt so sore and exhausted the rest of the day. I would recommend this trail. Next step is to backpack this trail next summer to see the sunrise in the morning.
