There is No White Horse
I was hiking with my father worrying about my future. I could tell worrying was slowing my pace as my family was increasingly getting farther away from me. I finally called out my dad and asked him some questions. We had a good conversation. I already knew what he told me, it was no new information. The information he told me just reminded me what I needed to focus on more. For us single people, sometimes we can worry about when we are going to meet the person we want to spend the rest of our life with. You watch chick flicks about magical romances and first kisses. It is so easy to get caught up in these chick flicks and lose reality. I think I have been slowly getting caught up in some false reality that I have lose my focus. There is no man who will come up and save me miraculously.
People will come attracted to you when you become the person they want to be with. Focus more on becoming than finding the perfect person. And there is no perfect person out there because everyone makes mistakes. I remember my first kiss was the most awkward thing in my life. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I imagined. There were no instant fireworks going off in the sky, there was no rain, there was no magical sparks flying out. Perfection is an idea that is ruining the dating world. People look for perfection in others when we are imperfect ourselves. This is what we can do in order to find what we want for the single people in the world.
1. Make a list of character traits you want in your future boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife.
2. Develop them yourself.
3. Don't worry about the timing, but just be in the right places in the right times.
Once you know what you want, then you need to develop those character traits first. If you want someone is talented, first think what talents you have. People are attracted to people similar to them most of the time. If you want someone who is social, are you eating dinner alone every Saturday Night watching chick flicks in your apartment? Do you expect a guy to just come knock on your door and tell you he has been waiting for you his entire life? I don't mean to be harsh, but get real! Be Proactive and do something with your life. When you are becoming the person you want to be, someone will be watching you and thinking, "wow they are amazing' because you are developing into this wonderful person. So this is my plan. I am now focusing on becoming who I want to become instead of waiting around.
